An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a comprehensive report prepared in accordance with international standards that confirms the environmental impact of a product throughout its entire life cycle.

Raw material extraction, transportation, processing, packaging, waste disposal, use and final disposal are phases of a product's life cycle that, each in its own way, affect the environment and the living environment.

All products have numerous impacts on the environment, one of the most well-known being their impact on global warming, or the emission of greenhouse gases. This effect is increasingly referred to as the carbon footprint.

For all of the above, and to obtain valid results, the test is thoroughly standardized and complies with ISO 14025 and LCA (Life Cycle Assessment). This scientific method of calculating the carbon footprint generated over the entire life cycle of a product ensures broad international acceptance.

There are numerous benefits of EPD certification in the construction sector, one of the most important of which is that this certification helps designers and contractors understand the characteristics of sustainable products.

According to current legal regulations, manufacturers are not legally obliged to obtain an EPD certificate, but the market is increasingly demanding it in various industries. This applies especially to the construction industry, as an EPD certificate is a prerequisite for obtaining green building certificate.
